How do you remove a wood burning fire place insert from one house and insert into another house’s fireplace?

I’m trying to remove a Hawke wood burning fire place insert from my mother-in-laws and put in in my fireplace. I measured it and it should fit, but I have no idea where to start. Any ideas?

  2. first put it out you don’t want a burning fireplace while your moving it.

  3. These fireplaces are usually metal pieces screwed into the wall. First remove any facades, and then unscrew and remove. Might have to use a crowbar and some muscle if the pieces are "merged" with the wall at this point. Behind the metal pieces are usually brick which you don’t need.
