If you are using MS Access, there are two ways this can be done. What you do is start a new query in design mode. Select your fields that you want to see in the results. Then in the expiration date column, set the criteria to the following:

>Now()

This will show all records in which the date is after today’s date. You can also put this:

>[Enter Date]

and this will prompt you for a date when you run the query. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

The highest number? I’m not sure I understand what you’re after. Wouldn’t the email field be a text data type, as opposed to a numerical data type?

If for some reason you’ve named a numerical field "email", you could just for SELECT * FROM `users` ORDER BY `email` DESC LIMIT 1; or just SELECT MAX(`email`) FROM `users`;. That would give you the highest value in a numerical column.

Me and my UIL coach tried to find something in the office help but came out empty handed. So if anyone has a the correct form please tell me. Me and my coach think there is a typo in the test itself. Thank you for ur help.

In QBE you would add a ‘calculated expression:’

AMOUNT: [Rate]*[DaysRented] to the next available column in the Select row

Writing it in SQL:

SELECT [Rate]*[DaysRented] AS AMOUNT FROM ToolsRented

No Typo there

I’m working with MS Access queries and I was wondering if it is possible to use access to create a user friendly application (something that looks like a form) which can be used to set the criteria for generating and running a query as opposed to using the design view to set the criteria (The QBE pane). Thanks.

Yes it’s possible.
You would have to have a table of the TABLES & FIELDS available in the DB (Or use VBA to build the list(s) dynamically), then use a VBA Script (Module) to combine the selections into an SQL statement and Create a Query with that SQL.

It’s rather advanced, and I’m not sure it would be worth the effort, BUT it could be some fun for You to work out the details and would be a GREAT learning experience in VBA scripting.

Enjoy!

****READ***** I am past the initial query phase. I have six or seven publishers/agents that have asked for the full mss. Yet it has been a month and not a peep out of them.

Since you’re out of the Query phase when you send out your ms it can take anywhere from a couple of days to months.

A friend of mine had a very interesting story and the agent read the entire thing in just two days; for another friend it took her 2 1/2 months before hearing something. You have to calculate how busy they are this time of year because of vacation and query overload especially all the people sending their Nano queries in. Usually after 6 weeks or 2 months without hearing anything you can send a little note. Specify that there are other agents with the ms interested in your work or just making sure the ms got to them. Something simple would do. Do NOT ask them anything else (i.e. their opinions on the book, helpful tips, why is it taking so long) or call/email more than once unless specified because they will probably just dump it.

You just have to be patient. It’s a long and grueling process. Hope you score a deal! =D
